Upon completion of the two-year Veterinary Technology Program at Yuba College and the additional general education classes, students will receive an Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology.
A Registered Veterinary Technician is a licensed individual who provides assistance to veterinarians in primary animal care, surgical nursing, anesthesiology, radiology, and nursing. Registered Veterinary Technicians are able to use their knowledge, skills and abilities to advance the cause of excellent medicine for animals of all species in a variety of settings. Employment is available in small animal hospitals, equine specialty practices, shelter management, education, research, wildlife and laboratory animal facilities.
A Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) has completed a two-year program of study and has passed the California State Jurisprudence Exam for Veterinary Technicians and the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). The Yuba College Veterinary Technology Program is a two-year program of study designed to prepare the student for both licensing exams. The Yuba College Veterinary Technology Program is fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. Acceptance into this program is gained by completion of program prerequisites and submission of a complete application packet. Please refer to the How to Enroll section of this website.
